Friends, When I started writing that article, it was with a bit of fear. Watching all the flag waving on TV, I had fantasies of being lynched in the streets by some mob if they somehow found out the kind of ideas I had in mind. Of course our subscribers are far different than your run-of-the-mill propaganda addicts, but I was nonetheless surprised to find that nearly every response was supportive - and in many cases downright enthusiastic. We've also learned, as the days have gone by, that peace demonstrations are cropping up everywhere... in Europe, on U.S. campuses, etc. This is a very different reaction than that to Pearl Harbor, when every draft office had queues of young men signing up to go off and "kill Japs". That doesn't mean we'll have much effect on Bush and his plans, but it's heartening to know we're not a nation of zombies. The flame of hope is still alive. I'd like to share some of the responses with you, along with some other material that has come in. rkm ============================================================================ From: C. While your article examines the events surrounding 9-11, your investigative approach lays a substantial foundation for the reasoning behind the event. That beings said, now reveals a far more sinister, over-all picture. I have been following the Globalization thing closely ever since the first mention of the FTA with the U.S.A, so this document is very significant to me. I have been so impressed with it that I have simply gone to my Eudora Address Book and picked those correspondents who I think might read it. I wish I had the address for every wired (ordinary) citizen on the continent. (Let Richard Moore know what you think). [The only thing in your article that I am skeptical about is that "Bin Laden" gave forewarning of a major hit on the USA . I'm betting that, if he had anything at all to do with the project, it was/is in playing his allotted roll as "the goat". ;-] Your article has been forwarded to about 75 other Canadians and two or three Americans. ===================== Dear K, My assumption would be that the CIA has informers in all the terrorist groups. After all, the CIA funded and trained many of them and has been tracking them all for decades. They have replaced the "Cold War" as an excuse for U.S. militarism and imperialism. Such an excuse is absolutely necessary for the continuance of the elite global regime. We are now seeing how that excuse is expertly exploited. rkm ============================================================================ [the following came as a handwritten note, along with a check for $140!] Dear Richard, You have joined a select group of people who see things clearly and help other people to see - people like Father Thomas Berry, Dr. Rosalie Bertell, Noam Chomsky, Riene Eisler (of whom I had never heard until my granddaughter gave me her book "The Chalic and teh Blade."), David Korten, Ron Dellums, Lyn Margulis. Connie Fogal has been a reliable Canadian source for many years, although I can't vouch for KATZ3693 from experience. Another connection between current events and the War on Drugs that is not being properly publicized (even by the likes of CyberJournal) is the fact that only through prohibition do drugs generate economic power on the scale needed to be as serious a contributing source of funding as they have been for renegade CIAs and 'Terrorists.' - Joe ------------- Begin Forwarded Message ------------- X-Sender: •••@••.••• Date: Tue, 02 Oct 2001 10:26:29 -0700 To: •••@••.••• From: Connie Fogal <•••@••.•••> Subject: ???????????? BUT why do they want to keep the system running--just to stay in control and power and enjoy the fruits thereof??? That sure is a lot of work to maintain that position. Dear Ken, I recommend "The Story of B". One of the few books (along with "Guns Germs & Steel", and "The Unconscious Civilization") that has changed my thinking in fundamental ways in the past year or so. Why do they want to keep the system running? You might as well ask why water runs downhill. No elite has ever given up power voluntarily. And keeping power means maintaining the system / regime that you understand how to run and control. You can see the same thing holographically at every level of society. From boards of companies, to cliques on school boards, etc. etc. etc. > As to Part 2, What kind of movement can succeed in transforming society? "Very few people are happy with the way things are going in the world"--not from what Ive seen of many in the great middle class of America. They love their football games and beer, and their neat lawns. I remember reading a book, The Screwing of the Average Man by Charles Hapgood, where he talks about catch 85. l5 % of the folks are really benefiting from the system and the majority of the rest hope to become one of the l5%? So, no social changes please. YOU ARE REALLY VERY IDEALISTIC--and I admire that. It's so easy to talk about paradigms but when I walk outside and observe people, I find most are zombies--unthinking, unread, bored, and not prone to paradigm shifts. That's how it seems until you really talk to people. Many times I've engaged everyday people in conversations, at airports and the like, and once you get them to open up most people think a lot more than we usually give them credit for. More than once I've gotten rather conservative people to agree that capitalism is a dysfunctional system. The problem is that each person, or small group of friends, thinks they are the only ones that think that way. Part of media propaganda is convincing us that public opinion is a certain way, when in fact it isn't. I don't disagree with your basic premise that paradigm shifts are very difficult to bring about. But I do believe that brainwashing is much shallower than most people think it is. I think the difference in public response to Pearl Harbor and to WTC is very encouraging. Whereas on Dec. 8, 1941 every draft board had a queue of kids ready to sign up to fight, today we have peace demonstrations on campuses all over the country. > Later on "...the old regime will stand down..." Not without a FIGHT to the end!! I wish and hope you're right in your ideals. Have you seen the movie: "Together"--really very revealing!!! I can't get a small group of people at my center to agree on almost anything, so how to get ALL the PEOPLE of the planet to agree on basics. Maybe I'm too cynical but I feel like I'm realistic. Even Jim Marrs's book, Rule by Secrecy ends up in some idealistic statements that leave me almost short of hope of ever changing the system. And I am still somewhat idealistic. Any help here???? What we need is a movement that spreads by the same kind of dynamics that spreads religious movements, or cult movements. But we don't want another religion or cult. We want a movement based on truth, openness, and the discovery of common objectives and purpose. There are known processes which facilitate the kinds of meetings / gatherings which can produce these kinds of results. > Please send me a copy of your current crisis of global capitalism. Have you even browed Marrs's book? And praytell, we need more specifics on who they are, how they operate, how they make decisions and who makes up the inner core? > Maybe Who's Who of the Elite? by Robert Gaylos Ross, Sr. Do you have many references on this??? Which ones are the better ones?? You seem to be ahead of me on sources. I find Sklar's "Trilateralism" useful. Also CFR's "Foreign Affairs" is very informative of the kind of propaganda fed by higher elites to lower echelons. In some sense, I don't think it matters much what the names are and what the details are. > With Admiration and Doubts, Ken I have no certainty whatsoever that there will be a successful movement, or even a movement that gets very far down the right path. But I am convinced that there is no other viable path than one much like the one I envision. I arrived at it by the method of 'elimination of alternatives'. There are only a few very well-defined approaches to Mt. Everest, but that doesn't mean you'll be able to get to the top. doubts as well, rkm -- ============================================================================ Richard K Moore Wexford, Ireland Citizens for a Democratic Renaissance email: •••@••.••• website & list archives: http://cyberjournal.org content-searchable archive: http://members.xoom.com/centrexnews/ "A Guidebook: How the world works and how we can change it" http://cyberjournal.org/cj/guide/ A community will evolve only when the people control their means of communication. -- Frantz Fanon Capitalism is the relentless accumulation of capital for the acquisition of profit.
